When instruction is customized and individualized for the specific student, that student's chance for success greatly increases. It is my belief that all students can improve and have educational experiences that are deeply meaningful if they are give the right amount of support and motivation. As a tutor, it is my responsibility to understand my students well enough to be able to customize their educational experience in such a way that they receive the maximum benefit from it. Every student learns differently. Teachers have to try out different paces, different methods, and different styles in order to determine what works best for each student. It is hard work, but the end result is very much worth the effort. Add patience and consistency to that hard work and you have the elements for outstanding results.I have the opportunity to work with a young girl with autism. I was able to meet with her parents, and we developed a plan for her success. We work through therapy at her home before she goes to school. While doing that, I provide academic support, helping her to stay current with her assignments. She is making progress, and I am very excited to be working with her.
