Experience
I have worked as a certified undergraduate tutor for Pace University's Writing Center since NYC Fall 2014. I've tutored both native and non-native speakers to better their English writing, reading, and speaking skills. I can honestly say I love my job -- and would love to continue doing it! My students are encouraged to become better writers, not just better test-takers, although improving their academic performance along the way is important to me. I have also been employed by Kaplan for their program Global Pathways, which deals exclusively with helping international ESL students better adapt to the American school system and culture. Tutoring sessions with my ESL students have ranged from constructing a persuasive essay to understanding pop music lyrics, focusing on both formal and colloquial English. My desire to continue as a reading and writing tutor stems from a genuine interest in Language and strong faith in the power of education, with intent to eventually hold a doctorate of Linguistics.
